The task of the whole unit is to hold a music festival. Based on the teaching design for a holistic unit, Assessing your Progress is the last period of Unit 5, the theme of which is music. The student book of this period consists of three parts. The first and second part is language knowledge detection including two activities. Activity 1, blanking filling is to consolidate key words and expressions of this unit and guide students to pay attention to part of speech, lexical chunks and collocation of the words. Activity 2 provides a short story about a girl insisting on learn to play the piano, designed to lead students to experience the use of past participle as predicative and adverbial in the context and appreciate her perseverance. The third part is the self-reflection, where well-designed questions can help students review the learning of the whole unit in a comprehensive manner, not only about the language knowledge but also the theme. In addition, the workbook includes some exercises, for example, excise 1 on Page 85 and exercises 5 on page 5. Exercise 1 reminds students to classify new words and expression based on the theme. Exercise 5 consolidates vocabulary in meaning context.
